YOOM the best product of the Year - Belgium

The Best Product of the Year is one of the most important elections in which consumers determine the best products in Belgium. In association with producer Den Berk, YOOM™ has been very successful in its launch. Hans, breeder and co-director of Den Berk Délice, was very enthusiastic about our tomato. "We wanted to put our shoulders under this project and invest in it together with Syngenta to bring YOOM™ to market."

After 2 years of small-scale tests, the first tests were carried out in the retail trade and YOOM™ is now being sold in Belgium and Germany and will continue to expand next year.

Another important highlight is the YOOM™ packaging, Den berk has chosen a white packaging with purple printing. Thanks to the white color, the black tomato stands out very well and the purple print emphasizes the purple glow of the tomatoes. They have chosen not to use plastic; it is completely cardboard so it can be easily classified. This reinforces our commitment to sustainability, guaranteeing the balance between economic growth, care for the environment and social well-being.

YOOM™ is a purple cocktail tomato, with a red 'flame' on the outside and a red asterisk below the crown. The interior of YOOM™ is purple too, it just looks like a passion fruit. Not only is the appearance so special, it also has a unique umami taste. Thanks to its purple-black colour, YOOM™ contains an even higher concentration of antioxidants than other tomatoes. Antioxidants play an important role in a healthy diet. For example, they help us protect ourselves from chronic diseases (such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, etc.).
